I was wondering if someone didn't have a phone, however, their parents did, wouldn't that be different since you don't go to the same place as your parents do. For example, assume that Person 2 has COVID and doesn't have NOVID, Person 2's parent, which we'll assume is Parent 2, doesn't have NOVID. Now assume that you go to swimming(or play basketball or whatever) with Person 2. NOVID wouldn't necessarily track that right? So, contrary to the answer Po gave at his LMT talk, you wouldn't necessarily know you have a "1".

Sorry, wdym? -
@imadandelion This. Don't understand either. if a person doesn't have a phone, they wouldn't be able to use NOVID, but that's still totally fine because only a certain amount of people need the app.
-
I think theoretically it would only work if everyone who has COVID reports it on NOVID, and everyone uses NOVID at all times.
-
@divinedolphin I don't think everyone needs to use Novid, but everyone who does use it must use it correctly and report themselves if they have Covid. Another problem is that people might report themselves with Covid even if they don't actually have it.
-
@coherentmango But if a person without NOVID and with COVID comes into contact with a person with NOVID, NOVID wouldn't know that they had close contact with a COVID positive person. If the person with NOVID got COVID from the other person, they wouldn't know unless they were tested. By the time they found out that they were positive, they probably already had close contacts with other people. tHaTs hOw cOvId sPrEaDs
