Absolute Value

I was doing homework and I got a problem with absolute value
Ex. | 7 - 6 |
so since it would be | 1 | does this make the 1 inside negative?

@readingallday Not necessarily. If you got |1|, the 1 inside would still be positive! The thing with absolute value is that if you got |-1|, then the value would become positive.
TL;DR, absolute value is always positive. Hopefully, I interpreted your question right. If not, please let me know.

@readingallday Absolute value is a number's distance from 0. This is why positive numbers stay positive, and negative numbers become positive in these problems, as we are just counting how many units a number is from zero. Ex: (-7 is 7 units away from 0 & 7 is also just 7 units away from 0 but in opposite directions).
